While we are excited to launch the new sites, the project does come with a few potential (and temporary) issues. We request your patience and assistance as we continue to refine the pages on each site.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Cross-Harelson School Library is to provide a collection of materials to implement, enrich, and support the Arizona College and Career Readiness State Standards for Cross and Harelson, and to meet the individual educational/informational; 21st Century; cultural/emotional; and recreational needs of students, staff, and faculty. 

Library Hours:
7:45 am to 2:00 pm
*WEDNESDAYS we close at 12:00 pm for Professional Development Meetings

We do not charge late fees, but your child will not be able to check out another book until their previous book is returned. Overdue notices are given to students and/or teachers. Electronic copies can be sent home by request. The dollar amount shown on the overdue notice is the replacement cost of the book, were it to become lost or damaged. Lost and damaged books can be paid for in the Harelson Elementry School front office or, if you prefer, can be replaced with a copy of the same book. If you are having trouble with replacement costs, please contact me.

Something to consider: Our library services both middle school and elementary school. While teen books will be off limits to elementary students, the rest of the library is not. If there is subject-matter that you prefer your child not read, please have that conversation with them so they can be prepared to choose books in keeping with your wishes.

Web Resources

  • Find information about Pima County Public Library's events, classes, and services, and search the catalog for books, movies, music, etc. Get an eCard if you don't already have one! 

  • Digital Arizona Library is a wealth of resources including ebooks (free!), primary sources, occupational information, and many research sites including the following:  Britanica Schools, Kids InfoBits, Opposing Viewpoints, US History in Context, Science in Context, National Geographic for Kids, and NoveList plus. An excellent resource for students!

  • An online encyclopedia for children.  Children have the option to choose according to their reading level.

  • As stated on the site, "The world's largest collection of books, toys and movies for smart, confident, and courageous girls." In my opinion one of the best sites for finding books to empower girls.  Books listed by subject, category, age, etc.

  • A website for parents and teachers geared toward helping struggling readers; provides reading tips, children's author and book information as well as providing recommendations for summer reading.
